Apple’s iPhone 17 Air Camera Module Leaks Hint at Design Overhaul
Leaked images suggest that Apple's iPhone 17 Air will undergo a significant design change, particularly with the camera module. The upcoming device is expected to feature an elongated camera bar that spans nearly the entire width of its back surface.
The redesigned module will include a single lens, a flash, and a microphone cutout positioned on the right-hand side. This new camera arrangement closely resembles the style seen in Google’s Pixel series, offering a fresh aesthetic for Apple’s next-generation smartphone.
Alongside this design update, Apple is set to integrate its Apple Intelligence suite into its ecosystem more seamlessly. With the upcoming releases of macOS Sequoia 15.3 and iOS/iPadOS 18.3, Apple Intelligence will become the default for compatible devices. This suite, featuring various generative AI tools, will be activated during initial device setup, though users will retain the option to disable it later.
This move marks an important leap forward for Apple in its AI ambitions, bringing machine learning, natural language processing, and other advanced AI features directly into the user experience.
In the market, Apple faces tough competition in China. New data from Counterpoint Research reveals a sharp decline in iPhone sales in the last quarter of 2024, with shipments dropping by 18.2%, reducing Apple’s market share to 17.1%. This setback has pushed Apple behind local rivals Huawei and Xiaomi, which now hold 18.1% and 17.2% of the market share, respectively.
On a brighter note, Apple continues to expand its health features. The company has announced that the hearing test feature for AirPods Pro 2 users will soon be available in the UK, after receiving approval from the Department of Health and Social Care. This feature, which is already available in the US, helps users monitor their hearing health using the AirPods’ internal sensors. The feature will roll out alongside updated software for both AirPods and iOS devices in the coming weeks.
